Paint on Plywood
80 x 60 x 4cm
This piece is the first part of a triptych about love, sexuality, and mortality. The first piece depicts a heterosexual couple. As the figures are cropped, they are depersonalised, and can be seen in a more conceptual sense, rather than as characters.
The raw, unprimed plywood shows through much of the image, giving a natural, organic feel to the flesh of the figures. The golden section between the figures has been scratched and roughened to add a texture which catches the light, and makes this piece truly a beautiful object.
