This piece was originally exhibited in the 2019 exhibition “The Fish & The Horse”, in which Berriblue explored and traced her visual inheritance.
The disturbing imagery is presented in a highly decorative way. The pain and visceral vanitas of life being present, hidden in plain sight. Not something shameful necessarily, but capable of being though of as beautiful, in its own way.
